9th Annual benefit for Hope Fund of Penns Valley

Wow! Our 9th year paying tribute to the mystical-foundational Anthology of American Folk Music. The event proceeds go to benefit the Penns Valley Hope Fund (http://pennsvalleyhopefund.com), a local homegrown organization that was created to assist families facing medical crises and/or personal disasters.  This organization has done some remarkable things in the last few years for people who really need help

This year we are very excited to have Charlie Parr playing the Harry Smith Festival. Charlie Parr is a fantastic country and blues player out of Minnesota. An amazing performer, playing guitar, resonator guitar and banjo, he draws from Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Reverend Gary Davis and others.  No Depression says of his recent album, Stumpjumper, “Taking acoustic blues and folk to the darkest edges of town via driving arrangements which emphasize steam-driven tempos and a doom- slinging attitude over spit and polish studio shine, Parr nonetheless manages to sound both breathtakingly immediate and authentically antiquated at the same time.” Check him out here: http://www.charlieparr.com , and here: http://www.npr.org/event/music/433088678/folk-alley-presents-charlie-parr.

In addition to Charlie Parr, this year we also have the The RestErin Condo & Bill Ritzman, and Eric Ian Farmer.  Host band Chicken Tractor Deluxe will be wrapping things up at the day’s end each doing short sets (5-8 tunes) of songs from the Harry Smith Anthology.

Please mark your calendars…
